Recreational Vehicle Insurance

  • Better Coverage
  • Better Rates
  • Better Service

A host of vehicles, motorized and non-motorized, can be considered Recreational Vehicles. They can vary in shape and size, motor or no motor, number of wheels and go by different names that include: motor home, popups, travel trailers or fifth wheels. Our Agency can provide protection for everything from ATV’S to golf carts, snowmobiles to campers. With that said though, generally when we think recreational vehicle, we think of an RV. We all know them; they are those camping in comfort, vacation home away from home that just happens to have wheels attached. They can vary in shape and size, motor or no motor, number of wheels and go by different name that include: motor home, popups, travel trailers or fifth wheels. The biggest difference between the categories is if the RV has a motor and will be driven to your destination or if it does not have one and will be pulled by a vehicle to get to that great vacation spot.

If the vehicle can be driven on roads then it is required by law to carry liability coverages (Bodily Injury and Property Damage) just like any other vehicle yet an RV policy also can include so aspects similar to a home policy since it is a temporary residence as well. There are of course additional optional coverages and if there is a loan on the vehicle then some may be required by the lender itself. A standard motorized RV (motor home) policy will include coverage for:

  • Bodily Injury and Property Damage
  • Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist coverage
  • Medical Payments
  • Physical Damage Coverage (Comprehensive and Collision Coverage)

Policies, of course vary by company, but optional coverages can include:

  • Personal Effects Coverage
  • Emergency Expense Coverage
  • Vacation Liability
  • Personal Effects Coverage
  • Roadside Assistance
  • Trailer Coverage
  • Disappearing Deductibles
  • Custom Equipment Coverage
  • Total Loss Replacement

Since fifth wheels, pop ups and travel trailers (often simply referred to as campers) are towed to their destination by a vehicle they do not require liability coverages since they have no motor. Liability on the roads extends to the towed camper by the vehicle doing the towing while it is hooked up. So with that said policy coverages on this type of vehicle are Comprehensive Coverage and Collision Coverage and then may include some of the optional coverages as well.
